In addition to offering more than 60 hectares of beautiful meadows, woodlands and playing fields, the award winning Worden Park also includes a range of attractions in its historic grounds. Find out more about these below.

Situated on the outskirts of Leyland, the park is in easy reach of the town centre.


 

Play area

Worden Park playground is the largest in Leyland and has a variety of equipment for toddlers (ages 0-6) including swings, climbing frames, springy toys and a large sand pit complete with sand diggers. There is also equipment for juniors (ages 7-12) including swings, a see-saw, climbing frames, slides, rope climbing frame and cableway.

The playground also offers a range of sensory equipment including musical chimes, talk tubes and wind pipes.

Worden Park Maise

Explore the Maze and Gardens

Explore Worden Park's maze or ‘puzzle garden’ which consists of over half a mile of hornbeam hedges with a central lime tree. There are three false entrances making even finding your way into the maze a challenge for unfamiliar visitors.   

Formal gardens and Worden Park

The Formal Gardens and Maze were laid out in the 1850s to the designs of William Andrews Nesfield, a prominent landscape architect of the time. 

The walled garden was built in 1777-8 as a kitchen garden to grow fruit, veg and cut flowers for the Hall.  It encloses an area of around 1 acre. Today the walled garden is managed and maintained by the Brothers of Charity Services who provide care and training for people with disabilities.  The walled garden used user for gardening training and is open to the public to walk round. 


 

Model railway

The model railway at Worden Park is well known, growing in popularity. The Leyland Society of Model engineers, operate the railway for the public to ride on selected days. More information can be found on their website.

Public toilets near the play area in Worden Park

In addition to the toilets in Worden Hall, there are also public toilets located within the park itself (20p charge).


 

Getting here

Worden Park has a large public car park accessible from the main entrance, off Worden Lane. Parking is free but with a time restrictions.Find out more on the South Ribble Borough Council website.

It is also a short distance (approx a quarter of a mile) from Leyland town centre and Leyland train station can be found approximately 2 miles away from Worden Park.
